Interface entre empatia nos cuidados em saúde e os direitos dos pacientes

Este estudo, que se caracteriza como uma pesquisa teórica, objetiva desenvolver aportes que sustentem as interconexões entre a empatia nos cuidados em saúde e os direitos dos pacientes, entendidos como os que todas as pessoas têm quando se encontram sob cuidados em saúde. Sabe-se que, em face do histórico paternalismo médico e alijamento do paciente do centro do cuidado, uma lei de direito do paciente não é de fácil implantação. Para tanto, conclui-se neste artigo que o movimento em torno da empatia é um aliado na efetivação dos direitos dos pacientes, pois ambos conjugam premissas basilares, como a essencialidade das interações sociais e a percepção do outro como uma pessoa detentora de valor único, que enseja comandos morais de respeito e tratamento digno.
