Full Powers, Democracy and Contitutionalism in Ecuador

This paper analyzes the situation of the constitutional process in Ecuador 2007-2008 and investigates the effects generated by the attribution of full powers on the structure and political model of the written Constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The reflection begins with the analysis of the concept of sovereignty that emerges in the context of modern revolution. The author establishes the relationship between constituent power and constituted power, the first one as politicization impulse and the second one as regulatory structure, the tensions between them and the need to ensure politicization flows between each other to make the political change possible.
