Cálamo, Journal of Legal Studies, adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) available at: http://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines.

Commitments of the Journal and the Editorial Board

1. Constitute a national Editorial Board and an International Advisory Committee with academics and researchers with relevant experience.
2. Prepare and update the journal's regulatory documents, such as: Editorial Policy, citation standards, and this Code of Ethics.
3. Prepare and update evaluation documents and others that guarantee an adequate and transparent operation of the flow of articles and other texts submitted to evaluation, such as: compliance review report with editorial regulations, peer evaluation report, report on modifications to articles and essays.
4. Decide, approve, and validate the journal's publications in accordance with the guidelines established in the Editorial Policy.
5. Ensure the academic quality of the publication.
6. Establish an impartial process for selecting the texts to be published and guarantee a transparent process for selecting and evaluating the texts to be published, without discrimination of any kind.
7. Inform the authors within a maximum time established in the editorial policy about the acceptance or not of their text for submission to peer review and for publication.
8. Respect the deadlines and times established in the Editorial Policy and for each issue.
9. Maintain clear and respectful communication, including supported communication of rejection of publication.
10. Guarantee anonymity between authors and reviewers.
11. Inform the authors of any important editing to be made to the text prior to publication,
12. Disseminate the journal in its respective formats.
13. Guarantee compliance with this Code of Ethics.
14. Resolve the problems presented in case of violation of this Code of Ethics.
15. Respect all intellectual property and authorship rights.

Commitments of the Editorial Board and the International Advisory Committee

1. Ensure the academic quality of the publication.
2. Contribute to updating the documents that make up the journal's regulations, especially the Editorial Policy and this Code of Ethics.
3. Support the dissemination of the call for papers and the journal in its respective formats.
4. Comply with this Code of Ethics.
6. Respect all intellectual property and authorship rights.
7. Indicate to the editorial management if there is any type of conflict of interest.

Commitments of the Authors

1. Know and accept the Editorial Policy of the magazine and this Code of Ethics.
2. Send articles of your authorship. If there are several authors, place the names in the order that corresponds to their level of involvement and responsibility in carrying out the research and writing of the document. When someone has participated without considering themselves an author, their level and type of participation will be noted.
3. Submit only unpublished and original texts, which have not been previously published nor are subject to evaluation for publication in any support.
4. Accept that contributions are evaluated with a plagiarism prevention tool selected by the editorial team.
5. Properly indicate all the original bibliographic sources, which are cited in whole or in part in the article or other contribution, respecting the journal's citation standards.
6. Respect all intellectual property rights in the material.
7. Make the adjustments and corrections indicated by the editorial team and the peer reviewers in the times indicated by the journal. And, if you do not agree with observations made during the arbitration process, justify it adequately.
8. Deliver the article in its final corrected version within the deadlines indicated by the journal.
9. Notify the journal's editorial team of any significant research errors found after publication or during the editing process.
10. Indicate if there is a type of funding for the research.
11. If applicable, declare the existence of conflicts of interest related to the publication of the data or results of the article.
12. Authorize the publication and dissemination of the article or other contribution in both its printed and digital versions.
13. Do not use any type of hateful or discriminatory speech based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, economic level, religion, nationality, political opinions.
14. Do not use offensive language.
15. Do not resort to the use of fallacies.

Commitments of Peer Reviewers

1. Carry out the evaluation according to the guidelines established by the journal and according to the  provided arbitration form.
2. Treat the manuscript received confidentially and guarantee the anonymity of the evaluation.
3. Indicate to the editorial management if there is any type of conflict of interest and, if applicable, refrain from carrying out the evaluation.
4. Carry out an objective, critical and constructive evaluation of the text.
5. Respect the times requested for each of the evaluations; and, if there is a problem in meeting the agreed deadline, inform the editorial management as soon as possible.
6. Do not use any type of hateful or discriminatory speech based on gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, economic level, religion, nationality, political opinions.
7. Comply with this Code of Ethics.
