Author Biographies

Rubén Méndez Reátegui, Universidad Autónoma de Chile

He holds an International Doctorate in Law (Cum Laude) from the University of Salamanca, a PhD in Economics from Macquarie University and the Complutense University of Madrid, and a PhD in Social and Legal Sciences from the Rey Juan Carlos University. He holds two postdoctoral degrees from the Simón Bolívar Andean University, as well as various master's degrees and postgraduate studies in Law, Economics, and Administration, completed in Europe and Australia. He is a member of the Legal Research Institute and the Doctoral Council of the Faculty of Law at the Autonomous University of Chile, where he directs the CONVERGENCIA Research Group. He is a visiting professor (ad honorem) at universities in Latin America and Europe, and president of the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Law and Economics (ALACDE). His academic career focuses on the critical analysis of economic law and comparative institutions, focused on the processes of reform, modernization, and economic and social regulation in Latin America. He has published more than 250 scientific papers and is actively involved as an editor, reviewer, and director of indexed journals. He also serves as an international consultant on economic regulation, competition, and public policy.

Fabián Romero Jarrín, Universidad Católica de Cuenca

A lawyer, he graduated from the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil (UCSG), specializing in Taxation, and a Master's degree in Law with a minor in Tax Law from the Simón Bolívar Andean University, Ecuador. He holds a Diploma of Specialization in Economic Analysis of Law from the University of Valencia and an International Diploma in Public Law and Economics from the Catholic University of Cuenca (UCACUE). He is currently pursuing a doctorate at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Mexico. He is a senior partner at MPR Abogados and a professor of Tax Law at the Catholic University of Cuenca.
