Discussions about cities often come from disciplines outside legal science and understand law only as a tool to achieve a vision of the city or to settle urban conflicts. However, as different regulations impose evolving frameworks that affect cities, law must conceptualise and propose solutions to contemporary urban problems and must take a leading role in the multidisciplinary study of cities. The dynamics and challenges of cities require a multidisciplinary dialogue and an integrative vision that recognises the interrelation of urban issues. This dossier promotes an academic discussion that aims to nourish the legal analysis of cities and strengthen the capacity of this discipline to regulate and influence their management and planning.
